Our cross country (XC) ski lessons and tours can cater for absolute beginner upwards (APSI accredited instruction) on some of the most incredible groomed trails to be found anywhere. With or without XC experience, discover winter wonderlands beyond Nozawa's resort boundaries as you glide along Nordic backcountry ('XC in the BC') touring... oh, and we can even arrange a relaxing shiatsu massage for you at the end of the day!

WHY BOOK WITH US?
Experience Nozawa is your connection to truly authentic stays in traditional family-run 'minshuku' (pension/B&B) in and around Nozawa Onsen. SNOWSHOEING ADVENTURES
Get away from it all and be immersed in nature walking atop deep snow - experience the cleansing sensation of winter 'forest bathing' as you're guided among ancient beeches and snow-laden cedars. Enjoy breathtaking views toward the Japanese Alps while spotting wildlife tracks and more.
Locations various and itineraries flexible according to interests, fitness and snow conditions. |
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
One of Nozawa Onsen's best kept secrets is its cross country (XC/Nordic) ski trails which are as world class as they are scenic - partly thanks to hosting the 1998 Nagano Olympics Nordic Biathlon.
Try something different and get away from the crowds with some human powered skiing - private lessons for both beginners and improvers in English or simply book a guided tour to get the most out of Nozawa's trails and explore beyond the 'official' XC courses. |
NORDIC BC SKI TOURING
Most visitors to Nozawa Onsen only ever get to see views from downhill runs. There's a whole other world out there to explore on Nordic (cross country) touring skis, gliding through the woods, away from the crowds, surrounded only by endless snowy landscape and nature.
Itineraries flexible to your ability/level - some Nordic/XC experience is advantageous but not necessary for strong downhill skiers. |
WALKING TOURS
Join us for a guided walk around Nozawa Onsen village while gaining insights into Nozawa's curious customs, culture and history... we'll even let you in on some of our favourite 'secret spots' you'd never otherwise find!
Forget struggling with selfies and 'HIRE A PAPARAZZI' - we can take you and your family for a bespoke village tour while capturing high quality photographic memories of your adventure along the way. |

Experience Nozawa are working hard to support locally run businesses. They saved me the hassle and arranged my accommodation booking for me. They also provided heaps of information, guidance and experience with how to get from Tokyo to NozawaOnsen, public onsens, locally run restaurants, food and drinks to try, ski hire, snow conditions, suitable ski runs and more. Thanks a lot for your efforts and all the best. (Charlie, 2018) ...the most wonderful magical experience in the amazing forest above Nozawa Onsen town. Not far from the action of the ski field but in a silent, different world. Loved our snow shoe adventure. Thank you for your guidance, patience in helping us put our snow shoes on and rescuing me when I sunk deep into the snow. Loved the hot lemon tea too. Thank you so much. What a way to explore this wonderful mountain. (Lisa, 2018) Thanks for really enhancing our Nozawa experience- from the expert accomodation booking advice to recommending ski hire, you guys really know the village and resort well. We had a fabulous time, skiing and visiting onsens afterward and appreciated your advice and helpful tips- can't wait till next year! (J, K & M, 2018) |
